Necker Island Shoot

A while back we were photographing the flora and fauna on Sir Richard Branson’s Necker Island for a small publication they produce called “Natural Necker” it’s given to all the guests upon arrival. They often use it for reference as they stroll around the beautiful island taking in the wildlife. We were there for a week, this short slideshow, of our favorite shots, was given to Sir Richard as a thank you for his generous hospitality during our stay. To top off the week, on our last night, Jan and I along with the other four members of our team dined under moonlight and candlelight with Sir Richard…it was a wonderful moment for me, I’ve been a huge fan of his ever since he released Mike Oldfield’s brilliant album Tubular Bells on the Virgin record label.

Women Who Make A Difference

Last year we had the privilege of creating a Videàge® for the Virginia B. Andes Free Community Clinic in Punta Gorda Florida. The purpose of that Videàge® was to outline their mission and show the volunteers at work. The Videàge® was to be shown at a fundraiser to enable the VBA to raise sufficient funds to keep the clinic open and functioning. The Videàge® was a huge success and they raised more money from their event than ever before. This year the clinic wanted to give a brief overview of their largest benefactor and the clinic’s namesake, Virginia B. Andes, whose generosity and desire to help others, has significantly helped literally tens of thousands of people. At 93 she was pretty impressive…

The Power of an Executive Portrait

I really like this executive portrait we just completed for Dr Maloney of Aesthetic Surgery of Naples. He’s a pretty cool guy, so we wanted to create something that would reflect that part of his personality and still look professional. We decided to use an area in his office that had a suede wall… it seemed perfect to us. So we put a large light source to one side and a reflector to bounce some of the light back…simple but effective. The shot here is my favorite from the series. We had just been talking to Dr Maloney about his skin care line so he was very relaxed, in fact I’m not sure he was aware I was going to take the shot!
